Cabaret Burlesque: Supernature – By Le Burlesque Klub

We caught the show as part of Brighton Fringe, at Spiegeltent, Brighton.

Performances were on Friday the 31st May and Saturday the 1st June.

The show was themed around organic creatures, plants and animals in a modern burlesque style. The cabaret display included impressive dance acts, embracing themes such as nature, femininity and gender.

Our hostess for the evening and leader of the Parisian troupe, Burlesque Klub, Valentina Del Pearls graced the stage to open the show. She made the crowd giggle with humour and feel flirty by flaunting a little of her pin-up style body – the perfect introduction.

It truly was an empowering show, as you were taken through a journey of universal beauty. Each performer had their own personality and style; there was a real mix of dance, comedy and well put-together choreography throughout the show. The spectacle highlighted how different body types and aesthetics were all beautiful. A real pleasure to see an almost all female cast, feeling so comfortable in their own skin. In this day and age, people often judge on appearances, but these women completely asserted their beauty and strength on stage.

There were definite nods to ‘traditional’ burlesque, but with refreshing acts I would never imagined – being aroused by an amazing arachnid style costume and performance was more than unexpected!

The real star of the show as Kiki Béguin, she hypnotised the amazed audience with her unique style, completely mesmerising, donning an impressive headdress full of beautiful, colourful feathers.

You can enjoy Le Burlesque Klub in their home town of Paris. But fingers crossed, they will return to Brighton once again next year for another glamourous night to remember!
