After a successful inaugural event last year in London, Penguin Books are back with Penguin Pride for 2018. This year, Penguin Pride goes on tour with dates in London, Manchester and, of course, Brighton. So, get down to Komedia on Weds 25 July, to enjoy a celebration of diversity and inclusion.
The Brighton date is set to include lauded national and local stars. At this carefully curated event, expect live readings from some of Penguin’s top LGBTQ authors alongside up-and-coming literary talent, spoken word performances from award-winning poets, musical performances from queer artists, pop-up bookshops and much more.
The lineup includes award-winning poets Jay Bernard and Dizraeli, former Editor of Attitude magazine Matthew Todd, trans activists Fox Fisher and Owl, music from Heather Peace, and local musician Paul Diello, fresh from his recent Fringe show. Hosted by Toby Campion, there’s something for everyone.
Coinciding with Pride events in the respective cities, expect books, poetry and music. The festival-style shows are in partnership with Gay Times and The Albert Kennedy Trust – a charity serving homeless LGBTQ+ youth, to which £1 of every ticket sold will be donated.
